Patience

The bible says patience is a virtue. More and more, I realize how hard it is to be patient. Everyone is into instant these days with text messaging and the Internet at our fingertips. Instant food with fast food and people want to see shorter videos on you tube. Watching the microwave cook oatmeal even seems long at times. Commercials make people antsy to see the rest of their show, and now you can tivo your shows and just forward through everything.

Yesterday I was at Six Flags Great Adventure and really realized how impatient people are. To go on a ride it could take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. I have never heard so many people complain and swear in my life. It makes me mad sometimes because I think you have to find ways to deal with impatience and make use of that time. When I was on the rides, I had a blast and felt such a rush of excitement but as the ride pulled to a stop, I heard people say, "That ride sucked and was way too short" and "This should be with the kid’s rides." It was amazing how people were not satisfied by anything.

I think patience is a beautiful thing. I used to be really impatient, but I guess working as a princess with children changed me. If I weren’t patient, children would be so scared of me. Sometimes you have to roll with life’s punches. Don’t get me wrong, I get impatient a lot, especially waiting in traffic but that is when I turn up the music in my car and sing and move as if no one is watching. I get impatient waiting for a coffee but that is when I observe all that is around me. Maybe there is a reason that we have to wait for things sometimes. Don’t miss a moment. Embrace the time you have to wait.
