I am in Florida on vacation with my mother right now and have been observing all of the people and sites around me. The one thing that struck me the most this year was the surfers.
Maybe it is because I have been working out so much and fighting to work out even when I am tired but watching the surfers has really inspired me.
The other day, I just sat on the end of a jetty, watching about a dozen surfers. It was so cool to see their process of surfing. They would swim out on their board deep into the ocean and watching their arms paddle was even exhausting. Then they would wait patiently, which seemed like a good 15 minutes, for a good wave. Sometimes it looked like they were going to ride it, but then they would decide to let it pass by them.
The best part was when they finally caught a good wave. They looked so light on the board, as they balanced and swerved with the wave. It was amazing and I watched them for at least an hour, in awe.
To surf like that, they need energy, patience, stamina, and drive. A lot of work, but worth it for the thrill of the wave. It reminds me of our goals, a lot of work, but so worth it.
