Stress Less

I can’t believe how much time has passed since I wrote a blog. I have been sort of overloading myself lately and didn’t give time to some of the more relaxing things in my life.

I just started a new job teaching children music and theater. I absolutely love it, but I have to wake up at 6:30am every morning and I am totally not used to that. I am determined to become a morning person again though. I go to bed at around 1am every night, so I definitely realized that that has to change fast.

I have been trying to squeeze so much in. Sometimes I feel that is what America has trained us to do. I can’t imagine the Italian laid back 2-hour coffee lifestyle here in America, but sometimes I wish it were that way.

So my days go like this now. I wake up and teach infants up to kindergarten theater and music, then go straight to the gym, then straight to nannying till about 7:30pm and then sometimes to improv rehearsal and on weekends voice lessons.

Yesterday I woke up feeling so sick, but had to babysit till 9:30pm, but I made it through the day in one piece. This week, I have realized that sometimes you just got to do what you got to do and the longer you stress, the more stressful it will be.
So last night I went to bed early, took some Nyquil and woke up feeling way more refreshed. I sacrificed my normal online time after work, but I think we need to make sacrifices in order to stay healthy.

Today as I hurried to the gym to work out, I felt myself zone into my music on the treadmill and took a break from the chaos. Finding that little moment of time to do that really calmed me.

So maybe there can’t be more than 24 hours in a day, and we really can’t slow down and must “burn the candle at both ends”, but maybe we can find our own little stress free zones within that!

This song really calms me…I hope it calms you too… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EyI4p0yjDQ
