Age

Tomorrow is my Great Aunt’s birthday. She is in her 80s. I am not sure exactly of the age that she is turning, but it doesn’t matter. To me, you age in wisdom. Looks can look young as you age or old, but what you know grows. It’s pretty amazing when you think about it. 80 years of knowledge! At age 23, I am learning so much everyday. I can’t get enough of wisdom and knowledge, but I keep finding that I am impacted the most by other people’s experiences.

Yesterday, I was filmed in a TV show. I had to reenact a scene from the movie, Kick-Ass. It stars a female actress named Deborah Twiss. She plays a sexy teacher that a boy in her class fantasizes about. I got to meet her and make a parody out of that scene. They then interviewed her on the show. I had the chance to talk to her and she told me, “just enjoy the scene and have fun”. It was exactly the advice I needed. Too often I find myself worrying, instead of having fun in the moment. This scene was something new to me. I had to basically seduce my student. I got over the fact that this was something out of my comfort zone and got fully into character and had fun acting like a seductive, sexy, teacher. They then made me look as sexy as possible and put makeup all over me so that I would look like a zombie and could do another scene. A guy directed me in my scene and taught me a lot about camera angles. It was such a cool experience. It will air on Princeton public television and in 7 different states soon.

The cast and crew were mostly from New York and I tried to soak up as much knowledge as I could from everyone. One thing that I have realized is that artists (actors, singers, models, artists, film makers, etc.) can’t have regular jobs. They have to sacrifice the money to pursue what they want and keep their passion alive. I really like learning how others have balanced work and work towards their passion. This is what I have been going through, but have discovered ways to incorporate my passions into my day job as well.

Knowledge is power and I am ready to soak up more and more.
