I realized something in my life recently. I realized how important “touch” is in life. I have been working with infants through Kindergarten, teaching them music and theater everyday, and every kid longs for a hug from me when my lessons are done. With the infants, I hold them and sing and move them and they smile. Think of how much touch you receive as a child and then as we grow, it becomes sparser, but yet we all need it. I do not mean sexual touch; I mean a truly lovely touch. A great hug, holding a hand, chaining a soul. When I came home this weekend, my mom scheduled a spa day for me. I got a massage and thought about how nice it was to have someone really try to take the pain away from my body. A hug from my parents and brothers felt so special to me. The thing I miss most about my ex boyfriend is that special touch as well, a touch of love, that not everyone can give you. In church we shake hands saying peace be with you and the touch is there as well. It is great to be independent and on your own, but I think everyone needs a comforting touch of some sort once in a while. How can you “touch” someone today?
